In cases such as herniated disc, facet syndrome and spondylolisthesis, pain occurs due to both pressure and inflammatory substances. In cases where the pressure is not too heavy, some anesthetic agents and cortisone are injected into the nerve root. In mild and some moderate cases, the injection may relieve the pain temporarily or permanently. Case selection is related to the severity of the pain and the size of the pressure on the MR image.
